The Hughes High School Sportsmanship Student of the Week award honors students who -- through their actions in the competitive arena of high school athletics, or in the arena of the classroom and community -- have demonstrated one or more of the ideals of sportsmanship, including fairness, civility, honesty, unselfishness, respect and responsibility. The players are selected by the players, coaches, community, and staff from Hughes High School. If you would like to nominate a student, print out and complete the nomination form below. Completed forms need to be returned in a timely manner to Jolinda Miller in the Hughes Athletic office.

Cincinnati Public School District Board Policy 2431:

The Board of Education believes that extra-curricular activities are an integral and valuable part of the educational process and participation in such activities enhances the student's overall academic experience. Participants and responsible adults involved in approved, school-sponsored extra-curricular activities are expected to demonstrate the same level of responsibility and positive behavior at practice, in performance, and in competition as is expected in the classroom. Extra-curricular programs should encourage the development and promotion of sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity in all phases of the educational process and in all segments of the school community including administrators, adult coaches and supervisors, student participants, spirit squads, parents, fans, and support/booster groups.

Sportsmanship and life lessons are always important at Hughes High School. One of our student-athletes would like to share his story...
